China supports inclusive talks between Russia, Ukraine — Chinese MFA
Lin Jian clarified that Beijing continues to maintain an "objective and fair position" on the Ukrainian issue
BEIJING, March 19. /TASS/. The Chinese authorities support negotiations for the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict in which both Russia and Ukraine are represented equally, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lin Jian said.
"We consistently support the promotion of peaceful negotiations [between Russia and Ukraine]," he said at a briefing. "China supports the holding of fair international meetings, those recognized by both Ukraine and Russia, with the equal participation of both sides in any peaceful projects."
The Chinese diplomat clarified that Beijing continues to maintain an "objective and fair position" on the Ukrainian issue.
Politico informs, citing official sources, that China may refrain from participating in possible talks on Ukraine if Russia is not invited. As the publication reported, according to China's position, Europe should involve Russia in the upcoming consultations, which may take place in Switzerland.
