Cuba congratulates Putin on election victory, hopes for stronger ties — top diplomat

HAVANA, March 18. /TASS/. The leadership of Cuba congratulates Russian President Vladimir Putin on winning the 2024 presidential election and hopes for stronger ties between the countries in the future, the Caribbean nation’s Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla said.
"We sincerely congratulate President Vladimir Putin on re-election. It testifies to the Russian people’s recognition of his leadership. We will continue to strengthen ties between Cuba and Russia in sectors related to the well-being of our peoples," the official wrote on his page on the X social network.
With more than 90% of ballots counted, Putin leads the presidential race with 87.21%, according to the Russian Central Election Commission.
Earlier, Putin received congratulations from Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and President of Nicaragua Daniel Ortega.
