US may impose sanctions over expansion of Russian-Iranian military-technical cooperation
Moscow and Tehran have repeatedly denied allegations of shipments of Iranian-made weapons for use on the Ukrainian territory
WASHINGTON, March 15. /TASS/. The US considers an option to impose sanctions over the expansion of the military-technical cooperation between Russia and Iran, White House National Security Communications Advisor John Kirby said during a briefing.
"We are prepared to respond swiftly and in a coordinated manner, including with new and significant measures against Iran. […] We are looking at a range of options here and, without question, additional sanctions will be on the table," he said, commenting on the statement of the G7, which stated its "extreme concern" over Iran’s alleged plans to ship ballistic missiles and relevant technologies to Russia, and asked Tehran to refrain from doing that.
Moscow and Tehran have repeatedly denied allegations of shipments of Iranian-made weapons for use on the Ukrainian territory. In particular, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov noted that Russia carries out its military-technical cooperation in strict compliance with the law.
