SIRIUS /Federal Territory/, March 7. /TASS/. North Korea’s young people support Russian President Vladimir Putin and Russia in its fight for justice and efforts to build a powerful state, Moon Chul, head of the Central Committee of the North Korean Socialist Patriotic Youth League, told TASS in an interview.

"We express our gratitude and our strong support to the youth and people of the Russian Federation who stood up to fight for a just cause," said Moon Chul, who is leading the delegation of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) at the World Youth Festival. "On behalf of the Korean youth, we express our solidarity with the Russians who stood up in their fight to build a powerful state, a powerful Russia under the leadership of Russian President Vladimir Putin," he added.

According to Moon Chul, the Russia-North Korea relationship advanced to a new level following a meeting between Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un at the Vostochny Cosmodrome spaceport last September. He also expressed his confidence that the current visit by North Korean delegates to Russia would offer a good opportunity to bolster friendly ties between the two countries’ youths and contribute to performing the tasks set by the two leaders.

The World Youth Festival is taking place in the Sirius Federal Territory on March 1-7. Applications to attend were submitted by over 300,000 people from 190 countries. Participants in the festival’s regional program will visit 30 Russian cities on March 10-17. TASS is the general media partner of the event.
