West missed opportunity for peace deal on Ukraine, says Hungarian PM
Viktor Orban expressed hope that a peace agreement would be reached sooner or later with the participation of the United States
BUDAPEST, March 4. /TASS/. Western countries have missed the opportunity to conclude a peace agreement on Ukraine at the time when even Russia was interested in it, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said.
"The Europeans failed to localize the conflict [in Ukraine], which, on the contrary, expanded further, and missed the right moment to quickly conclude a peace agreement when even the Russians were interested in it," the prime minister said at a conference organized by the country’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Budapest.
He expressed hope that a peace agreement would be reached sooner or later with the participation of the United States. However, in this situation there will be a danger for the European Union that its opinion will no longer be taken into account in the negotiations on Ukraine, Orban said.
