Time is on Russia’s side in Ukrainian conflict, says Hungarian PM
Viktor Orban stressed that "the Europeans, along with the Ukrainians are losing the war and have no idea of how to find a way out of this situation"
ANTALYA, March 1. /TASS/. Time is on Russia’s side in the conflict in Ukraine that is why Kiev and European countries supporting it are in a difficult position, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said.
"We, Europeans, are now in a difficult position," he said at a diplomatic forum on Antalya. According to Orban, European countries took the conflict in Ukraine "as their own war." But matter is, in his words, that time is not on Ukraine’s side. "Time is on Russia’s side. That is why it is necessary to stop hostilities immediately," he stressed.
"If you think that this is your war, but the enemy is stronger than you and has advantages on the battlefield, in this case, you are in the losers’ camp and it will not be an easy task to find a way out of this situation. Now, we, the Europeans, along with the Ukrainians are losing the war and have no idea of how to find a way out of this situation, a way out of this conflict. This is a very serious problem," he stressed.
In his words, he looks at these problems only from the point of view of his country’s interests and the interests of the Hungarian minority of some 150,000 people in Ukraine. "They are also dying during this war," Orban noted. He rejected accusations that he can be acting in the interests of Russia and Russian President Vladimir Putin. "I am looking at these things neither from the point of view of the Ukrainians nor from the point of view of Putin. I am not interested n this. I represent the interests of my country and my people," he added.
