DUBAI, March 1. /TASS/. An officer of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC, an elite branch of the Iranian Armed Forces), named Reza Zarei, was killed in an Israeli drone strike at a building on the outskirts of Syria’s Baniyas, Iran’s IRNA news agency said.

According to the news agency, Reza Zarei was a native of Iran’s Hormozgan province and served in an IRGC naval unit.

Earlier, the Al Hadath television channel said that a Shi’ite fighter was killed in an Israeli drone strike on Shi’ite militias’ barracks on the outskirts of Syria’s Mediterranean port of Baniyas (260 kilometers from Damascus).
