LONDON, February 29. /TASS/. The British troops present in Ukraine ensure security of British diplomats and aid in training Ukrainian forces, the British Prime Minister’s Office told Sky News.
According to a representative of Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, there is a "very small number of British troops in Ukraine."
When asked to comment on the points from Russian President Vladimir Putin’s address regarding NATO and Ukraine, the representative said they were unable to examine them yet, but London continues to "fully support" Kiev.
Earlier this week, Sunak’s office announced that London has no plans that imply a large-scale deployment of forces in addition to the small number of troops that are already present in the country. At the end of last year, Defense Secretary Grant Shapps mentioned an option of sending British military instructors to Ukraine, but later, Sunak said that there are no plans to do that in the nearest future. The British media have repeatedly reported that small special operation groups operation in Ukraine, training Ukrainian troops.
