According to the media, Yaya Dillo was killed when government forces fired on the party’s head office
PRETORIA, February 29. /TASS/. Oumar Mahamat Kedelaye, a prosecutor at the High Court in the Chadian capital, N'Djamena, said the leader of the opposition Socialist Party Without Borders, Yaya Dillo, was killed, the Chadian news website Al Wihda reported.
The circumstances of Dillo’s death haven’t been disclosed. The news website Tchad One reported that the opposition leader was killed when government forces fired on the party’s head office on February 28.
Government forces fired on the party’s office after party activists attacked the headquarters of the country’s National Security Agency. The attack followed the arrest of party activist Abakar Torabi on charges of attempting to assassinate the Supreme Court’s Chief Justice.
AFP has reported there’s still a cordon of forces around the party’s office on February 29, and military patrols are posted around the center of the capital city. The internet is down for a second straight day, and some schools and stores remain closed.
