Armenia playing it close to the vest with CSTO intentions — source
According to the source, no partners have received any explanations or notifications
MOSCOW, February 27. /TASS/. Armenia has not yet notified its partners about what it plans to do concerning its membership in the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), a Russia-led security bloc, a source told TASS.
"No, no partners have [received] any explanations or notifications," the source said.
Earlier, commenting on relevant statements by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, parliament speaker Alen Simonyan said, "The prime minister stated that the republic’s non-participation in CSTO activities actually constitutes frozen relations."
Pashinyan said earlier that Armenia has suspended its participation in the CSTO. The organization’s secretariat, however, said that Armenia did not notify them about this. Yerevan skipped a range of recent meetings in integration formats. Thus, Pashinyan did not take part in the CSTO summit in Minsk.
