Haley says she will continue campaign despite defeat in South Carolina primary
She also congratulated Trump on the win in the state, but said she didn’t believe he could defeat Biden, the sitting president
NEW YORK, February 25. /TASS/. Former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley reiterated she will stay in the race to win the Republican presidential nomination even as she is set to lose the primary in her home state.
She said earlier this week she would continue her campaign regardless of the South Carolina vote.
"I’m a woman of my word," Haley said in televised remarks. "I’m not giving up this fight when a majority of Americans disapprove of both Donald Trump and Joe Biden."
She congratulated Trump on the win in the state, but said she didn’t believe he could defeat Biden, the sitting president.
She said she so far received roughly 40% of the vote in South Carolina, about as much as she got in the New Hampshire primary, and that "is not some tiny group."
The US is set to hold presidential elections on November 5. Biden has said he will seek reelection.
