UK, US carry out another series of strikes on Houthi targets in Yemen
According to the broadcaster, the Al-Jabbana area in the Province of Hodeidah came under attack
DUBAI, February 22. /TASS/. The UK and the US have carried out four strikes on targets belonging to Yemeni Houthi rebels from the Ansar Allah movement, the Houthi-controlled Al-Masirah TV channel reported.
According to the broadcaster, the Al-Jabbana area in the Province of Hodeidah came under attack.
Following the escalation of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in the Gaza Strip, the Yemen-based Houthis rebels said they would strike Israeli territory and prevent ships associated with Israel from passing through the waters of the Red Sea and the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait until the operation in the Palestinian enclave was halted. Since mid-November 2023, the Houthis have attacked dozens of civilian ships in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.
The US authorities responded by announcing the establishment of an international coalition and launched Operation Prosperity Guardian to ensure freedom of navigation and protect ships in the Red Sea. On January 12, US and British aircraft, ships and submarines attacked Houthi targets in a number of Yemeni cities. The strikes targeted the launch sites of rockets and unmanned aerial vehicles, as well as radar stations belonging to the Houthi rebels.
