Chinese diplomat points to Russia’s position on inadmissibility of weapons in space
Mao Ning added that the Russian side "called on everyone to comply with the corresponding agreements"
BEIJING, February 21. /TASS/. The Chinese Foreign Minister pointed to the fact that Russia has always consistently advocated the inadmissibility of deploying nuclear weapons in space, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Mao Ning said.
Commenting on the US media's statements about Russia's alleged plans to deploy nuclear weapons in space, the diplomat said: "The Russian side has already emphasized that Moscow has always stood for inadmissibility of deploying nuclear weapons in space, and called on everyone to comply with the corresponding agreements. China’s position on the issue is clear and consistent."
Earlier, American media spread information that the so-called threat to US national security could be due to Russia’s alleged plans to deploy nuclear weapons in space. Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters that these publications were nothing but another ploy by the White House. Russian President Vladimir Putin pointed out during a meeting with Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu that Russia "has always been and is strongly against deploying nuclear weapons in space."
