TOKYO, February 19. /TASS/. The Japanese government intends to help Ukraine with reconstruction in seven main areas, including demining, increasing industrial productivity and developing information technologies (IT), Japan's Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary Murai Hideki said.

"Japan intends to focus its efforts on seven areas," he said at a conference on Ukraine's reconstruction held in Tokyo, adding that the areas range from humanitarian aid to improving industrial productivity.

"First, we will work on mine clearance and debris removal, which is a prerequisite for recovery and reconstruction," the official said, pointing to the need to improve the humanitarian situation.

"For Ukraine's economic recovery and industrial development, we will work in three areas, including improving the productivity of Ukraine's main industries, such as agriculture and livestock, developing new products such as biotechnology, and developing the information and communication technology industry," Murai Hideki said.

He also promised to help Kiev improve infrastructure, including energy and transportation, public administration and the fight against corruption.

The volume of the new aid package, which Japan plans to transfer to Ukraine in the form of grants after the conference, is expected to amount to about 15.8 billion yen ($106 million), according to the Yomiuri Shimbun newspaper. The Japanese government has already provided Ukraine with more than $7.6 billion in humanitarian, food, financial and other aid.
