Japanese, US, South Korean diplomats discuss Russia-North Korea relationship

TOKYO, January 15. /TASS/. Senior Japanese, US and South Korean diplomats discussed over the phone Sunday’s missile launch by the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) as well as relations between Moscow and Pyongyang, the Japanese Foreign Ministry said.
The diplomats discussed Pyongyang’s missile test as they criticized the move as a breach of a relevant UN Security Council resolution. "In addition, they exchanged opinions on the current situation around North Korea, including the Russian-North Korean relationship," the ministry said in a statement.
The Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) said earlier that North Korea carried out a test launch of a solid-fuel intermediate-range ballistic missile with a hypersonic warhead on January 14. The test did not impact the security of neighboring countries and "had nothing to do with the situation in the region," KCNA added.
On Sunday, North Korean Foreign Minister Choe Son Hui arrived in Russia on a three-day official visit at the invitation of her Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov who visited Pyongyang in October 2023.
