BEIJING, January 14. /TASS/. The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) supports China’s position on the Taiwan issue considering Taiwan China’s inseparable part, SCO Secretary General Zhang Ming said.

"The Chinese People’s Republic is the only legitimate government representing entire China and Taiwan is an inseparable part of China’s territory," he said, adding that the Taiwan issue is China’s domestic affair.

"The SCO will continue to firmly support the Chinese government’s position on the Taiwan issue, sticking to the one-China principle, and will continue to speak up against any form of division on grounds on ‘Taiwan’s independence,’" the SCO chief stressed.

He noted that the Shanghai Cooperation Organization is committed to the UN and SCO Charters, "respects the sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity of its member states and efficiently defends the interests of the security and development of its members.".
