WASHINGTON, January 14. /TASS/. Congress may approve a tradeoff bill to continue funding for the US government until March, Politico newspaper said, citing its sources.
According to them, leaders of the House of Representatives and the Senate agreed upon a draft initiative to extend financing, although House Speaker Mike Johnson had rejected a similar proposal earlier. Lawmakers are to do this by January 19, the date when the act would expire on continuation of funding for certain government programs and agencies, including those dealing with agriculture, energy, defense construction, transport and housing.
Congress leaders agreed upon a similar initiative extending allocation of funds for certain government agencies by March 1 and for others - by March 8, the newspaper said.
