Trump vows not help EU in case of attack, European Commissioner says
Thierry Breton claims that Trump also said that "NATO is dead" and that the US will withdraw from the alliance
BRUSSELS, January 10. /TASS/. US ex-President Donald Trump privately warned that the US will not help the EU, if it is ever attacked, European Commissioner for Internal Market Thierry Breton said.
"You need to understand that if Europe is under attack we will never come to help you and to support you," Trump said, according to Politico.
According to Breton, the ex-President made this comment during a conversation with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen during the World Economic Forum in Davos in 2020. Breton himself was present at the meeting.
The European Commissioner claims that Trump also said that "NATO is dead" and that the US will withdraw from the alliance.
"That was a big wake-up call and he may come back," Breton said about Trump.
The next US presidential election will take place in November. On April 25, 2023, Joe Biden announced that he will run for re-election. Trump announced his presidential campaign in November, 2022.
