Turkish company to build drone plant in Ukraine within two years — envoy to Turkey

ISTANBUL, January 10. /TASS/. Turkish company Baykar, which specializes in building unmanned aerial vehicles, will have a plant in Ukraine within the next two years, Ukrainian Ambassador to Turkey Vasily Bodnar said.

"We hope that the construction of a Baykar plant will be completed in two years," the 24 TV channel quoted the envoy as saying. He declined to comment on the location of the construction site for security reasons.

Earlier, the diplomat said that it was possible to launch the enterprise before the end of 2023. Baykar said it was planning to invest about $100 mln in projects in Ukraine, including for the construction of a plant producing drones.

The Ukrainian envoy also said that Kiev is participating in the bidding process to supply engines for a fifth-generation Kaan fighter jet being built by Turkey. Additionally, according to him, ANKA-3 drones and ATAK-2 attack helicopters are being outfitted with Ukrainian-made engines.
