Republican officials said that many of Ramaswamy's campaign staffers began looking for new jobs within the party last November

WASHINGTON, January 9. /TASS/. The election campaign of Republican presidential hopeful Vivek Ramaswamy "shows signs of unraveling," the Axios news portal said.

Republican officials told Axios that many of Ramaswamy's campaign staffers began looking for new jobs within the party last November. One of them was offered a job as early as February 1, just after the Iowa and New Hampshire primaries. The national political director for the Ramaswamy campaign, Brian Swensen, resigned from the staff late last year.

These details, combined with Ramaswamy not participating in the Illinois primary after he failed to garner enough support to qualify for the final Republican debate, show what Axios believes are "signs of unraveling."

Republican campaign spokeswoman Tricia McLaughlin says Ramaswamy's campaign failures are exaggerated.

"The mainstream media may be quick to write our obituary, but that's because they're oblivious to the facts on the ground," McLaughlin said. "We're going to finish in the top three" in Iowa. "Mark my words," she added.

Ramaswamy has previously expressed skepticism about Washington's support for Ukraine. He believes that the US should seek an immediate settlement of the conflict in Ukraine, which would include transferring Russian-speaking regions to Russia and a firm refusal by NATO to accept Kiev. Politico reported that if the Republican candidate wins the election, he could pull the country out of NATO.

The US presidential election will be held in November 2024. On April 25, 2023, incumbent American leader Joe Biden announced that he would seek re-election to the top office. His predecessor, Donald Trump, threw his hat in the ring for the US presidency in November 2022. Trump is now the favorite in the race for the Republican presidential nomination.
