Secret meeting on Zelensky’s ‘peace formula’ yields no results — Bloomberg
The report noted that, while Saudi Arabia, India and Turkey took part in the meeting, China, Brazil and the UAE did not send any representatives
NEW YORK, January 9. /TASS/. The meeting of representatives of Ukraine, Western states and the Global South on the so-called peace formula of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky yielded no results. It took place in total secrecy in Riyadh on December 16, Bloomberg reported citing its sources.
According to the report, no significant progress has been achieved during the meeting. According to the Bloomberg sources, the meeting aimed to "rally support for Kiev’s conditions for holding peace talks with Russia." The report noted that, while Saudi Arabia, India and Turkey took part in the meeting, China, Brazil and the UAE did not send any representatives.
Speaking in mid-November, 2022, at the G20 summit, Zelensky claimed that Kiev has a 10-point "peace plan," which includes nuclear, food and energy security, exchange of captives under "all for all" formula and restoration of Ukraine’s territorial integrity. The president noted that Kiev insist that international security guarantees are provided to Ukraine, and even developed a draft agreement. Zelensky added that Ukraine wants to achieve the establishment of an international mechanism for compensation of damage via Russian assets.
As Kiev repeatedly drew attention to its peace formula, Kiev repeatedly rejects initiatives, proposed by third sides. In particular, commenting on initiatives of Vatican and Brazil, Zelensky claimed that Ukraine needs no intermediaries.
Meanwhile, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova underscored that the so-called peace plan is yet another US’ guidebook on fueling conflict in Europe. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov noted that Zelensky’s claims on peace settlement are being made without consideration of present reality.
