Israel’s new foreign minister hopes to boost ties with Ukraine
Israel Katz thanked his Ukrainian colleague Dmitry Kuleba for congratulating him on his appointment to a new position
TEL AVIV, January 4. /TASS/. Israel’s new Foreign Minister Israel Katz seeks to bolster relations with Ukraine.
On the X social media platform (formerly Twitter), he quoted his Ukrainian counterpart Dmitry Kuleba who congratulated him on the appointment. "Thank you Minister @DmytroKuleba! Looking forward to working together with you and strengthening the relations between our countries and peoples," Katz wrote.
Katz, who served as Israel’s minister of energy until the end of 2023, replaced Eli Cohen as the country’s top diplomat according to a coalition agreement which provides for rotating foreign ministers. On January 1, the Knesset, the Israeli parliament, approved Katz as the foreign minister and Cohen’s appointment to the post of the minister of energy. According to existing agreements, the two will trade offices again in December 2025 if the coalition exists until then.
