SEOUL, January 2. /TASS/. Lee Jae-myung, leader of South Korea's main opposition Democratic Party, received emergency treatment after a stabbing attack and his life is currently not in danger, the Yonhap news agency reports.

The politician was airlifted to a Seoul hospital by helicopter after he had been stabbed in the neck during a visit to an airport construction site in the city of Busan.

An unidentified man approached Lee Jae-myung for an autograph as he was talking to reporters. The attacker was detained but refused to explain his motives.
