Hamas fires over 20 rockets at Israeli territory from Gaza Strip
The Israeli ambulance service says no injuries have been reported so far, the Times of Israel said
TEL AVIV, January 1. /TASS/. The Palestinian movement Hamas fired over 20 rockets at Israel from the Gaza Strip right after the New Year, the Times of Israel reported.
According to the newspaper, the attacks targeted the southern and central parts of the country. Most of the rockets were intercepted by the Iron Dome missile defense system.
The Israeli ambulance service says no injuries have been reported so far, the Times of Israel added.
Tensions in the Middle East flared up again on October 7 after militants from the radical Palestinian group Hamas launched a surprise incursion into Israeli territory from the Gaza Strip, killing residents of border communities and taking people hostage. Israel announced a total blockade of Gaza and launched a military operation in Gaza. Clashes are also taking place in the West Bank.
