YEREVAN, December 27. /TASS/. Baku and Yerevan can achieve peace within the 3+3 regional format that involves Iran, Russia and Turkey, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said at a joint press conference with his Armenian counterpart Ararat Mirzoyan in Yerevan.

"A stable peace can be achieved in the first months of 2024 and we are positive. Those positive sentiments that exist in the region can be realized without external interference through the mediation of Iran, Turkey and Russia within the 3+3 format," he said.

The Armenian Foreign Minister added that Yerevan has received another package of proposals from Baku on the conclusion of a peace agreement and will respond in due time. He also noted that a window of opportunity for peace with Baku has opened, but it depends on a number of factors, including Azerbaijan's constructiveness.

The initiative of a six-party format of cooperation on the South Caucasus was initiated in late 2020 by Azerbaijani and Turkish leaders Ilham Aliyev and Tayyip Erdogan. Later it was called 3+3. Russia and Iran welcomed the idea, and Armenia also joined the format. Georgia said it had no plans to participate in the initiative. On December 10, 2021, the first meeting of the consultative regional platform at the level of deputy foreign ministers of the five countries was held in Moscow.
