Ukrainian forces may abandon Avdeyevka in 2-3 months, commander says
During the conflict in Donbass, the Ukrainian forces turned Avdeyevka into one of the main fortified areas
MOSCOW, December 26. /TASS/. Ukrainian forces may leave Avdeyevka in 2-3 months, Ukrainian armed forces commander Valery Zaluzhny said.
"As for the hostilities around Avdeyevka […]. We should not get fixated and stage a ‘show’ around a certain settlement. Waging war has its own laws that do not depend on whether politicians or reporters like it. The [Russian Armed Forces] have an ability to concentrate forces on a certain direction. And they can do the same thing that happened in Bakhmut [Artyomovsk] in two to three months. We will defend [Avdeyevka] for as long as we can. If there are not enough forces, we will preserve the people," he said during a press conference, aired by Ukrainian media.
During the conflict in Donbass, the Ukrainian forces turned Avdeyevka into one of the main fortified areas, which allowed them firing at Donetsk, Makeyevka, Yasinovataya and the outskirts. Currently, fierce fighting is underway near Avdeyevka.
