Sanctions hinder food supplies from EAEU states to needy countries — Tokayev
At the same time, the share of agricultural exports from the EAEU countries on the world market remains low - just over 2%, Tokayev said
ST. PETERSBURG, December 26. /TASS/. Sanctions are preventing food supplies from Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) countries that could feed 600 million people around the world, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said at an expanded meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council.
"Food supplies are hampered by the current geopolitical situation, where sanctions have come to the fore. As a result, people in need of food are suffering. Experts estimate that the potential of the EAEU countries can feed about 600 million people," the president emphasized. According to him, "the countries of the EAEU have reached the highest level of food self-sufficiency".
At the same time, the share of agricultural exports from the EAEU countries on the world market remains low - just over 2%, Tokayev said.
