Biden’s executive order to cover Russian products processed outside Russia
The executive order "guarantees that if Russia sends diamonds to another country for processing, they will not be able to enter the United States," the US official noted
WASHINGTON, December 22. /TASS/. An executive order to be signed this Friday by US President Joe Biden will cover Russian products that undergo any changes outside Russia, particularly diamonds, a high-ranking US official said at a special telephone briefing dedicated to this executive order.
"The executive order will also provide relevant authorities with an opportunity to take measures required to ban products made in Russia but subjected to changes to a significant decree outside it. This pertains to [the prohibition] in respect of diamonds," the official said.
The executive order "guarantees that if Russia sends diamonds to another country for processing, they will not be able to enter the United States," the official noted. The executive order will come into force immediately after signing.
Biden banned imports of Russian non-industrial diamonds last year.
