UNITED NATIONS, December 20. /TASS/. The United Nations Security Council has once again postponed its vote on a humanitarian resolution to facilitate aid deliveries to the Gaza Strip, co-authored by Arab nations, a UN source has told TASS.

Originally, the vote was scheduled to take place on December 18, but was postponed several times.

"The vote has been postponed until Wednesday," the source said.

The UN Security Council is expected to convene in the morning of December 20.

The 16-point document, authored by Egypt, the United Arab Emirates and Palestine, is aimed at facilitating humanitarian deliveries to the Gaza Strip. Among other things, it contains a call to facilitate cross-border aid deliveries, to provide the enclave with enough fuel to satisfy its current needs and to ensure the protection of UN personnel and facilities.

Tensions flared up again in the Middle East on October 7 when militants from the radical Palestinian group Hamas staged a surprise attack on Israeli territory from the Gaza Strip and took hostages. Hamas described its operation as a response to the aggressive actions of Israeli authorities against the Al-Aqsa Mosque on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem’s Old City. Israel has declared a total blockade of the Gaza Strip and carried out air strikes on the Palestinian enclave, as well as some areas of Lebanon and Syria. Clashes are also underway in the West Bank.
