Israel unaware of death toll among Hamas militants, envoy says
Alexander Ben Zvi added that "the data they provide should largely be treated with great cautiion"
MOSCOW, December 16. /TASS/. Israel is not aware of how many Hamas militants have been killed, Israeli Ambassador to Russia Alexander Ben Zvi told TASS as he urged caution regarding the information being provided by the Palestinian radical movement.
"Nobody knows for sure. The data they provide should largely be treated with great cautiion," the Israeli envoy said. The only data coming from the Gaza Strip are provided by the [Palestinian] health ministry which is completely under the control of Hamas, he explained.
"They (Hamas - TASS) report that a certain number of men, women or children have been killed. But nobody says how many militants of that number have died," Ben Zvi continued.
Nor does Israel have data on the death toll among Hamas members, he added.
"We know how many our people have been killed. Hamas does not provide the data (on the number of those killed among them - TASS), as they fear they will be demoralized," the diplomat concluded.
