BRUSSELS, December 15. /TASS/. Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said he had vetoed the long-term program of budgetary aid to Ukraine worth 50 billion euro.
Summary of the nightshift: veto for the extra money to Ukraine, veto for the MFF [Multiannual Financial Framework] review. We will come back to the issue next year in the EUCO [European Council] after proper preparation," he wrote on the X social network (formerly Twitter) after the first day of the EU summit in Brussels.
In turn, the prime minister of the Netherlands, Mark Rutte, said he was certain that EU leaders will reach unanimity on the issue next year.
The European Commission on June 20 called on the EU countries to make additional contributions to the community’s budget for 2024-2027, needed for the approval of a 50-billion-euro aid program for Ukraine over the next four years and another 20 billion euros in military aid.
