West no longer honoring lavish promises given to Ukraine, Belarusian security chief says
Ivan Tertel noted that in 2022 the leadership of Belarus had created conditions conducive for talks between Russia and Ukraine, which had resulted in some degree of progress
MINSK, December 13. /TASS/. The situation in Ukraine is rapidly deteriorating and the West is no longer capable of honoring the lavish promises it gave to the Ukrainian leadership to provide support for "as long as it takes," Belarusian State Security Committee Head Ivan Tertel told reporters.
"The plans and promises that were given to the Ukrainian leadership by the West are no longer being honored or were completely unrealistic [from the start]," the BelTA news agency quoted the top security official as saying.
Tertel noted that in 2022 the leadership of Belarus created conditions conducive for talks between Russia and Ukraine, which had resulted in some degree of progress. "Specific results were achieved that made it possible to take into account the interests of all parties. Solutions were found on every issue that suited both the Russian and the Ukrainian side. Each side agreed to a compromise," Tertel pointed out.
According to him, Minsk was hopeful that results would be achieved from the talks in early 2022. "Yet certain ‘advisors’ to Ukraine emerged, such as [former British Prime Minister] Boris Johnson and certain others," the Belarusian security chief said. "The price of this [naked Western interference] is hundreds of thousands of people killed and tens of thousands missing. And, sooner or later, those responsible will be held accountable for it," he concluded.
