Ukraine can’t win, EU 'trapped' without plan B, Orban warns
The Hungarian PM said that EU leaders are still unwilling to admit this mistake, continuing to provide Ukraine with weapons, with no seeming end to the conflict in sight
BUDAPEST, December 13. /TASS/. Ukraine will not be able to defeat Russia on the battlefield, nor will Western countries be able to move the needle, and anyone who thinks otherwise is kidding themselves, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said in an interview with the Mandliner magazine.
When asked when the Ukrainian conflict is likely to end, Orban stated that "more and more people are saying that Ukraine will not win on the battlefield." The prime minister emphasized that he agreed with this opinion and he himself "has said this from the very beginning."
"Let’s not delude ourselves that the Ukrainians can win this war with our support," Orban said.
The Hungarian prime minister believes that the European Union "found itself trapped" as it started to send military aid to Ukraine, banking on its successes on the frontline, but it didn’t have any contingency plan in case this failed.
"There was no Plan B, since there was just this plan of victory, which failed," the prime minister explained.
