PARIS, December 12. /TASS/. Renowned French writer Frederic Beigbeder has been taken into custody; he has been detained in the city of Pau in southern part of the country, according to France Bleu.

According to the report, the 58-year-old writer was summoned for questioning, after which a decision was made to detain him.

"Frederic Beigbeder is being questioned as a part of a preliminary investigation," regional prosecutor Rodolphe Jarry said, adding that the case "is not drug-related."

He noted that the prosecution is unable to provide additional details at this point.

Frederic Beigbeder is a French writer, literary critic and an actor. His most famous novels include "99 Francs," "Love Lasts Three Years," "Holiday in a Coma." In 2009, he was awarded presented with a Prix Renaudot award, considered one of the most important French literary awards.
