COGAT expressed confidence that the UN has made all the necessary adjustments for the effective receipt and distribution of aid

TEL AVIV, December 12. /TASS/. The first convoy of trucks with humanitarian aid for the residents of the Gaza Strip has passed through the Kerem Shalom crossing, the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT) reported.

"This morning, the first convoy of trucks carrying humanitarian aid was cleared at the Kerem Shalom crossing and is now on its way to the Rafah crossing," it said in a statement.

COGAT expressed confidence that the UN has made all the necessary adjustments for the effective receipt and distribution of aid.

Earlier, Sky News Arabia reported that as part of the Egyptian-Israeli agreements, the Kerem Shalom checkpoint, located on the border between Israel and the Gaza Strip, will resume operations on December 12 to check aid shipments going to the Palestinian enclave from Egyptian territory.

The Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories confirmed on December 11 that Israel would reopen the Kerem Shalom crossing, making it possible to double the number of inspections.

The Kerem Shalom crossing is located five kilometers south of the Rafah crossing and was closed in early October following the escalation of tensions around the Gaza Strip.
