EU yet to decide on key Ukraine issues — top Ukrainian diplomat
EU leaders will gather for a summit in Brussels on December 14 and 15
BRUSSELS, December 11. /TASS/. The European Union has not made a single decision on the outstanding issues concerning Ukraine, including financial and military support and launching talks on its accession to the EU, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba said after a EU ministerial meeting.
"They (EU representatives - TASS) now have four decisions on the table. They are [Ukraine’s] membership [to the EU], the European Peace Facility, a Ukraine support fund, and sanctions. Apart from that, there is a fifth decision - on frozen assets, but this is not yet on the table, but it is expected to be there in a couple of days. <…> There are no final decisions on any of these issues, i.e. they are hanging in the air, talks continue," he said.
"But if financial matters, so to say, are blocked, there are other ways to settle these issues. But in the case of membership talks, there is no other solution than reaching a consensus," he said, adding that the problem of his country’s EU membership is "just a matter of time and price."
EU leaders will gather for a summit in Brussels on December 14 and 15. They are expected to discuss the issue of launching membership talks with Ukraine. Hungary strongly objects to this. Thus, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban insists that Kiev is not ready to be an EU member.
