Missiles strike US base near Conoco gas field in Syria
There were no injuries or damage
BEIRUT, December 8. /TASS/. Detachments of the Shiite Islamic Resistance in Iraq movement have attacked a US military base located near the Conoco gas field in Syria's Deir al-Zor province.
The Lebanese TV channel Al Mayadeen reported, citing a statement from the formation, that several missiles were fired at the US facility. The Shiite militants claim to have hit all targets.
According to the channel, the Ain al-Asad US military base in Iraq’s Al Anbar Governorate was hit at the same time. There is no information about the aftermath of the attack.
Earlier, the Shafaq News portal reported that the US Embassy, located in the so-called Green Zone in the center of Baghdad, was hit by a missile attack early Friday morning. Several missiles were fired at the diplomatic mission’s building and explosions were heard as alarm sirens went off in the building.
The France-Presse agency, in turn, reported that three rockets fired by militants landed near the embassy. No one was injured in the attack.
On November 30, in a statement circulated via their Telegram channel, Shiite militias warned the US that they would "increase the number of armed operations in Syria and Iraq as the American enemy continues to provide military assistance to the Israeli army that is killing civilians in the Gaza Strip and Southern Lebanon.".
