US failure to provide aid to Kiev to be Christmas present for Russia — Cameron
The British Foreign Secretary also called for the transfer of frozen assets of Russia to Kiev, adding that the funds could be used to restore Ukraine
WASHINGTON, December 8. /TASS/. The US Congress’ failure to authorize military aid to Ukraine will become a Christmas present for Russia, UK Foreign Secretary David Cameron told the Aspen Security Forum in Washington.
"European security is also American security. And we should stay united on this, we should pass this money to the Ukrainians, we should back them and make sure that it’s [Russian President Vladimir] Putin that loses. Because if the money does not get voted through, there will only be two people that will be smiling. One of them is Vladimir Putin in Russia, the other one is Xi Jinping in Beijing. And I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to give either of this people a Christmas present," he said.
He also spoke in favor of transferring Russia’s frozen assets to Kiev, adding that the funds may be directed for rebuilding Ukraine.
The bill on providing new major aid to Ukraine and Israel failed to make it through the US Congress on Wednesday.
