The Minister of Strategic Industries of Ukraine, Alexander Kamyshin, said that Kiev had reached an agreement with two "leading US companies" to create a joint production of such projectiles in his country
MOSCOW, December 8. /TASS/. Creating a joint US-Ukrainian production of 155mm shells will take at least two years and is therefore impossible in 2024, Ukrainian Minister of Strategic Industries Alexander Kamyshin said.
He also said that Kiev had reached an agreement with two "leading US companies" to set up joint production for such shells in his country.
"The implementation of this project will take years. <...> Setting up a joint production with US companies will take at least two years, so it will be impossible to accomplish this in 2024," he said.
He also admitted that US defense industry companies view Ukraine as a "risk."
The Pentagon announced on December 6 that US and Ukrainian officials have reached an agreement on joint production of certain types of weaponry and technical data sharing. According to Reuters, the document was signed by the Pentagon's chief weapons buyer Bill LaPlante, Ukraine's Minister of Defense Rustem Umerov and Ukrainian Minister of Strategic Industries Alexander Kamyshin.
