TOKYO, December 6. /TASS/. Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida will hold an online G7 summit on Wednesday and invited Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky to take part, the country’s Chief Cabinet Secretary Hirokazu Matsuno announced.

"In the evening of [December] 6th, Fumio Kishida as the chair of G7, is planning to hold talks of G7 leaders. In addition, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky will participate during the start of the event," he said.

According to Matsuno, G7 leaders are planning to discuss "important issues that the global community is facing," including the situation in Ukraine and the Middle East, as well as issues related to artificial intelligence (AI).

The exact time of the meeting was not disclosed. According to US President Joe Biden’s schedule, published by the White House, the conference call will take place at 9:30 a.m. EST (12:30 p.m. GMT). The discussion will be closed for the public.

Japan presides in the Group of Seven this year. The G7 summit took place in Hiroshima in May and was personally attended by Zelensky.
