Iranian leader’s visit to Turkey postponed due to UNSC meeting — Iran’s top diplomat
It is reported that the Iranian delegation will not be able to attend the UNSC meeting on the situation in the Gaza Strip because of a delay to issue visas by the US government
DUBAI, November 29. /TASS/. Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi postponed his visit to Turkey ahead of a United Nations Security Council (UNSC) meeting on the situation in the Gaza Strip, with the two leaders clearing this up via phone, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian announced.
"President Raisi was scheduled to make an official visit to Ankara, but the visit was postponed because the UNSC will convene a meeting to discuss the situation in the Gaza Strip to which the Iranian and Turkish foreign ministers had been invited," IRNA news agency quoted Iran’s top diplomat as saying. "In a telephone conversation, the two countries’ presidents agreed that the scheduled visit would take place in the next few days and that the two sides would discuss the outcome of the coming [UN] SC meeting during it," he added.
He went on to say that the Iranian delegation will not be able to attend the UNSC meeting on the situation in the Gaza Strip because of a delay to issue visas by the US government. "The US government has delayed issuing visas to me and other members of the Iranian delegation, depriving us of the opportunity to participate in the meeting to be held at the UN today," Abdollahian said.
