NATO states do not pressure Ukraine to begin peace talks with Russia — Stoltenberg
According to the official, NATO has seen no signals that Putin wants a peaceful resolution of this conflict, with Ukraine existing as a sovereign and independent state
LONDON, November 29. /TASS/. NATO member states do not pressure Ukraine regarding the beginning of peace talks with Russia, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said in an interview for BBC.
When asked if any NATO member state pushes Ukraine towards negotiations, Stoltenberg answered in a negative.
Stoltenberg called the military aid to Ukraine a "path towards peace," opining that the stronger Ukraine is on the battlefield, the stronger it will be at a negotiation table.
The Secretary General also opined that Russian President Vladimir Putin is not interested in peace talks. According to the official, NATO has seen no signals that Putin wants a peaceful resolution of this conflict, with Ukraine existing as a sovereign and independent state.
In his opinion, it is necessary to "convince" Putin that Russia cannot win on the battlefield, which means providing more military aid to Ukraine.
