Austrian Interior Minister opens 91st session of Interpol General Assembly
The event marks the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the organization
VIENNA, November 29. /TASS/. Austrian Interior Minister Gerhard Karner declared the 91st session of the Interpol General Assembly in Vienna open.
The event marks the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the organization.
Before the start of the ceremony, Karner told reporters that countering extremism, terrorism, human trafficking and human smuggling across borders will be the main subjects of discussion at the assembly. After the start of the ceremonial part, Austrian police officers carried the flags of all nine federal states of the republic, as well as the flags of Austria and Interpol to the stage. They were escorted by the Austrian Federal Chancellor Karl Nehammer, Interpol President Ahmed Naser Al-Raisi and the organization's Secretary General Jurgen Stock. The police orchestra then played the Radetzky March by Johann Strauss Sr.
The 91st Interpol General Assembly will be held in Vienna on November 28-December 1, bringing together leaders and representatives of law enforcement agencies from more than 190 member states.
