Hungary’s top diplomat cautions NATO against military confrontation with Russia
Peter Szijjarto also noted that in Hungary’s view, the North Atlantic Alliance should step up the fight against terrorism in light of increased illegal migration
BUDAPEST, November 28. /TASS/. Hungary expects NATO foreign ministers at their meeting in Brussels to reaffirm that the Alliance will under no circumstances be drawn into military action against Russia, said Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto, who is taking part in the two-day meeting in Belgium’s capital city.
"We expect that the meetings of NATO Ministers of Foreign Affairs will confirm the previous decision that we must do our best to avoid a direct confrontation between NATO and Russia, as well as turning NATO into a party to the conflict," Szijjarto wrote on his page on Facebook (prohibited in Russia due to its ownership by Meta, which has been designated as an extremist organization).
The foreign minister noted that in Hungary’s view, the North Atlantic Alliance should step up the fight against terrorism in light of increased illegal migration and "help preserve stability" in the Western Balkans region.
