Japan doubles down on anti-Russian sanctions, further aid for Ukraine — Kamikawa
Yoko Kamikawa pointed out that "despite the growing tensions in the Middle East, the G7’s position regarding harsh sanctions against Russia and continued support for Ukraine remains unchanged"
TOKYO, November 28. /TASS/. Tokyo favors keeping anti-Russian sanctions in place and continued aid for Ukraine, Foreign Minister of Japan Yoko Kamikawa said, answering a question about whether she considers aid to Kiev a "waste of money."
"[Japan] advocates for sanctions against Russia and strong support to Ukraine in cooperation with the international community - first and foremost, with the G7," she said, reiterating Tokyo’s position condemning Russia.
In particular, Kamikawa pointed out that it was stated during the recent meeting of G7 foreign ministers that, "despite the growing tensions in the Middle East, the G7’s position regarding harsh sanctions against Russia and continued support for Ukraine remains unchanged."
The Minister added that Tokyo will continue its efforts as this year's G7 chair.
To date, the government of Japan has provided over $7.6 billion worth of humanitarian, food, financial and other types of aid to Ukraine.
