Interpol treats all of global police organization’s member states equally — president
It is reported that the agency does not distinguish "between big or small countries, rich or poor, or if there is a country in a conflict"
VIENNA, November 28. /TASS/. Interpol consistently treats all of its member states equally without differentiating between them based on their status, Interpol head Ahmed Naser Al-Raisi said in an interview with TASS.
On the eve of the 91st session of the Interpol General Assembly, he noted that Article 3 of the organization's constitution prohibits any politicization of the agency. Al-Raisi noted that Interpol is a police organization that is obligated to adhere to its constitution. According to him, if any country misuses any information received, appropriate measures are taken but the country is not expelled from the organization because the agency’s mission is "to protect the world from the criminals who will be hiding in a place or in a country" outside of Interpol’s reach.
"So we work very closely with all the member countries," the top official said, stressing that the agency does not distinguish "between big or small countries, rich or poor, or if there is a country in a conflict" and follows "the same equal kind of transparent way of [treating them]."
The 91st Interpol General Assembly will be held in Vienna on November 28 - December 1, bringing together leaders and representatives of law enforcement agencies from more than 190 member states. The session will mark the 100th anniversary of Interpol, founded in the Austrian capital in 1923.
