Interpol follows latest Middle East escalation round the clock — president

With Palestine and Israel being Interpol’s effective members, the organization should support the police work in both countries, Ahmed Nasser al-Raisi noted

VIENNA, November 28. /TASS /. Interpol has been watching the situation in the Middle East round the clock against the backdrop of the latest escalation between Palestine and Israel, President Ahmed Nasser al-Raisi told TASS in an interview ahead of the 91st Interpol General Assembly.

"As Interpol, we follow with our operation room 24/7 all the news, [and] what happens in that area," he said.

With Palestine and Israel being Interpol’s effective members, the organization should support the police work in both countries, al-Raisi added.

Palestine joined Interpol in 2017, while Israel has been a member since 1949.

An UAE national, al-Raisi took office as Interpol president in November 2021.

The 91st Interpol General Assembly will take place in Vienna on November 28 — December 1. It will mark the 100th anniversary of the creation of the organization in the Austrian capital.
