Russian Deputy Permanent Representative to OSCE Maxim Buyakevich noted that Media Freedom Representative Teresa Ribeiro only drew attention to violations of the rights of journalists who "disseminate Western narratives and loudly oppose the Russian state system"

VIENNA, November 23. /TASS/. The OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media has been shamefully silent when it comes to violations of the rights and murders of Russian journalists, Maxim Buyakevich, Russian Deputy Permanent Representative to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), said at a meeting of the organization's Permanent Council.

He said Media Freedom Representative Teresa Ribeiro only draws attention to violations of the rights of journalists who "disseminate Western narratives and loudly oppose the Russian state system."

"Violations of the rights of other reporters, which, by the way, there are thousands more of, apparently are not worthy of Ms. Teresa Ribeiro's attention, even if they are humiliated, persecuted or killed. After all, freedom of speech today can only be anti-Russian, everything else is propaganda. This is the only way to explain the shameful silence of the OSCE representatives specialized structure on the high-profile murders of Dugina, Tatarsky, Klokov, Zhuravlev and other representatives of Russian media who were killed doing their professional duty," he said, also recalling the death of VGTRK correspondent Boris Maksudov.

The day before, the Ukrainian Armed Forces hit a group of Russian journalists who were preparing a report on the shelling of the Zaporozhye Region by the Ukrainian Armed Forces with a fragmentation munition from an unmanned aerial vehicle. As a result of the attack, Boris Maksudov, a correspondent from the Rossiya-24 TV channel, was wounded by shrapnel. He was promptly evacuated to a medical facility of the Russian Defense Ministry. On the morning of November 23, he was reported dead.
