Hostage exchange in Gaza hits a roadblock — WSJ
According to the media, the delay was caused by the fact that Hamas had decided to make last-minute changes to its agreement with Israel
WASHINGTON, November 23. /TASS/. The Palestinian radical movement Hamas has failed to provide information about some of the 50 hostages who were expected to be released later today, The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) wrote, citing officials in the United States and the Middle East.
While Hamas provided names, genders and nationalities for most of the hostages, information about some of the 50 individuals was missing, the WSJ said. This complicated and delayed their release from the Gaza Strip, the newspaper added.
In turn, Israel’s public broadcaster Kan said that the delay was caused by the fact that Hamas had decided to make last-minute changes to its agreement with Israel.
Last night, Tzachi Hanegbi, who serves as Israel's National Security Adviser, said that no hostages would be released from the Gaza Strip before Friday, November 24.
Earlier, Israel approved a plan that would bring at least 50 hostages home during a four-day ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. On Wednesday morning, the Israeli Justice Ministry published a list of 300 Palestinian people held in Israeli prisons who could be freed under the deal. Israel will pause hostilities for one extra day in exchange for the release of every additional ten hostages, the Israeli presidential office said. According to Israel, more than 200 people are still being held by Hamas militants.
