NEW YORK, November 23. /TASS/. The United States demands that Israel enhance security of Gaza residents during the four-day ceasefire, The New York Times reported on Wednesday.
According to the newspaper, the US wants Israel to establish safe zones and increase supplies of fuel and medicine to Gaza.
Apart from that, the US along with Qatar call on Israel to look at possible extension of the four-day pause if Hamas agrees to release more than 50 hostages.
Hamas said earlier that a Qatar-and Egypt-mediated agreement had been reached with Israel on a four-day humanitarian ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. It confirmed that under the agreement it would release 50 women and children and teenagers under 19 who are held hostage in the enclave in exchange for the release of 150 women and children under 19 from Israeli prisons.
According to the Qatari foreign ministry, the ceasefire will be declared within 24 hours.
